A Start to 2026 That Reminded Us Why We Love This Work

Diving into our latest campaigns, the shift in global consumer behaviour, and how independent agencies are leading the charge in the new digital era.

Every January we tell ourselves this will be the year we slow down and reflect before diving back in. Every January, we don't. 2026 was no different — three campaign launches, two new client onboardings, and a research study that took twice as long as planned all landed in the same six-week window. And somewhere in the middle of that chaos, we were reminded why we do this.

Consumer behaviour didn't shift quietly this time

The last few years trained us to expect gradual change — attention spans shrinking a little more each quarter, platforms rising and falling on a predictable cycle. What's different heading into 2026 is the speed. Purchase decisions that used to take a week of research now happen inside a single scroll session, informed by creator content, price-comparison tools, and community sentiment that a brand has almost no direct control over.

That's not a reason to panic. It's a reason to build brands that can win trust in seconds, not just campaigns that can win attention. We've leaned harder into research this year — actual qualitative conversations with the people brands are trying to reach — because assumptions built on last year's data are already stale.

Independent agencies have an edge right now

Holding-company agencies are built for stability, not speed. Every layer of approval that protects a large agency from risk also slows it down. Independent shops like ours don't have that overhead — a strategist, a designer, and a media buyer can sit in the same room and ship a revised campaign within a day, not a sprint cycle.

  • Faster iteration — creative and media decisions made in hours, not committee cycles
  • Direct access to senior talent on every account, not just the pitch
  • Fewer layers between insight and execution

None of this replaces craft. Speed without a strong point of view is just noise faster. But paired with real strategic thinking, it's what let three of our brands beat their category norms on cost-per-acquisition this quarter while everyone else was still in planning meetings.

What we're carrying into the rest of the year

More research before creative, not after. Tighter feedback loops between media performance and brand messaging. And a continued bet that the brands willing to move fast — without cutting corners on the thinking — are the ones that will own their categories by the end of 2026.
